Privacy Policy
Effective Date: February 21, 2026
8b8t is an anarchy Minecraft server operated and owned by XERA INC., a company registered and based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you connect to or use our services, including the 8b8t Minecraft servers (Java at 8b8t.me, Bedrock at br.8b8t.me), our website, and related features like account registration, purchases, and in-game authentication.
We are committed to protecting your privacy in line with our anarchy ethos—minimal interference, maximal freedom—while securing the limited data we do collect. We do not log or store player IP addresses in any of our logs or databases.
Information We Collect
We collect only the minimal data necessary to provide the server experience:
- Minecraft Username and Password — When you create an account or use in-game authentication, we store your username and a hashed/encrypted version of your password in our secure database. This is used solely for authenticating you on the server.
- Email Address — Only if you voluntarily provide one (e.g., during account setup or for recovery purposes). Email is used exclusively for 2FA (two-factor authentication) recovery and account-related communications. We do not use it for marketing or share it with third parties except as required for recovery processes.
- Purchase/Transaction Information — When you make a purchase ranks/perks through our store, we collect transaction details via our third-party payment providers: CraftingStore, PayPal, and/or Stripe. We do not store full payment card details ourselves; all sensitive payment processing is handled directly by these providers in accordance with their privacy policies.
- In-Game Logs — We maintain standard server logs that include chat messages, commands, and the last recorded coordinates of players. These logs help with moderation, investigations, and server management in rare cases of disputes or rule-related issues (though 8b8t has no enforced rules beyond basic operational stability).
We do not collect or store:
- Player IP addresses in logs or databases.
- Any other personal identifiers beyond what's listed above.
- Geolocation data, browsing history, device info, or analytics tracking unrelated to core server function.
Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. We do not direct the 8b8t server or any related services toward children under 13, nor do we encourage users under 13 to join or use the server. The server contains mature themes, unrestricted player behavior (including griefing, PvP, and chat), and is intended for players 13 years of age and older. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
How We Use Your Information
Your data is used only to:
- Authenticate and provide access to the 8b8t server.
- Enable account recovery via email (if provided).
- Process purchases for ranks or perks.
- Maintain server logs for operational stability, debugging, and (in exceptional cases) investigating account-specific issues.
We do not analyze, profile, sell, or share your data for advertising, marketing, or any commercial purposes beyond running the server. Data is only accessed during a legitimate investigation into your account (e.g., suspected compromise, abuse of authentication systems), where we may review relevant logs or account details.
Data Sharing and Third Parties
- Payment data is processed by CraftingStore, PayPal, and/or Stripe, who have their own privacy policies and security standards.
- We do not share your username, password hash, email, or logs with any other third parties except as required by law (see Law Enforcement section below).
Law Enforcement Compliance
We will only disclose user data to law enforcement or government authorities in response to a valid court order signed by a judge or a properly issued subpoena. We will not comply with informal requests, warrants lacking judicial oversight, or demands from non-judicial entities.
We respond only to valid legal requests originating from United States or Canadian authorities. Requests from other jurisdictions will generally not be honored unless accompanied by appropriate mutual legal assistance treaty (MLAT) processes or equivalent international legal compulsion recognized under Canadian or U.S. law.
Any disclosure will be limited strictly to what is legally required, and we will only hand over data if the alleged law-breaking is substantiated and the request meets all legal validity requirements.
Your Rights and GDPR
8b8t is operated by a Canadian company (XERA INC.) and does not specifically target or offer services to individuals in the European Union in a way that would trigger extensive GDPR obligations. We do not follow or comply with GDPR data subject requests (such as access, erasure, or portability demands). Any such requests will be ignored.
Security
We take reasonable measures to secure the limited data we hold, including encryption/hashing of passwords, secure database practices, and ongoing monitoring for vulnerabilities. However, no system is 100% secure—especially in an anarchy environment where attacks are common. We continuously work to improve protections, including DDoS mitigation and network hardening.
