How to Sign Up for Matrix Using chat.xera.ca

  1. Visit the Web Client: Go to chat.xera.ca in your browser.
  2. Create an Account: Click on "Register" and fill in your desired username, password, and email (optional).
  3. Join 8b8t’s Space: Once registered, search for 8b8t's official rooms or use an invite link shared by our staff to connect directly.

Using Matrix on iOS or Android with the Element App

The Element app is a polished, user-friendly Matrix client available for both iOS and Android. Here’s how to set it up:

  1. Download Element:
  2. Sign In with Matrix.xera.ca:
    • Open the app and tap “Get Started.”
    • Tap on “Change Server” or “Custom Server” (depending on your app version).
    • Enter https://matrix.xera.ca as the server URL and confirm.
    • Proceed to sign up or log in with your account credentials.
  3. Join 8b8t Rooms:
    • Use the room invite links provided on our website or within the 8b8t community.
    • Alternatively, search for 8b8t-related rooms once logged in.
