About 8b8t

8b8t was originally founded in late 2016 as 0b0t, a non-vanilla anarchy server created by Leee as an alternative to 2b2t, which had long queue times. In 2019, the server was rebranded to 6b6t due to domain-related issues.

During the COVID-19 lockdowns, the server saw a massive surge in popularity, attracting players from around the world and gaining recognition through YouTube videos. By the summer of 2020, 8b8t had become one of the largest non-vanilla anarchy servers, with over 150 players online at peak times. Today, it remains a thriving hub for anarchy gameplay.

The current world, launched in January 2021, is now four years old. The previous world was lost due to corruption, but to prevent such incidents in the future, we now take daily backups. We have no plans to reset the world—this world is here to stay, forever.

8b8t runs on Folia which is a server software that allows over hundreds of players to be connected at once on the same world. We have also developed a plugin which adds many features to the server and helps patch any gamebreaking exploits to keep the server as lag free as possible. The plugin is open source and is available on Github
